The First Annual Glen Davis Memorial Walk

On Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 twenty-four Girl Guides and staff from Protected Areas Association commemorated the life of Glen Davis beside the Colinet River.

The Glen Davis Memorial Wilderness Walk honours a man who didn't just donate money, but loved visiting the wilderness PAA worked to protect. The Ripple Pond Study Area is a current area of interest that Glen would have enjoyed seeing. The hike started outside the study area, on route 80 and followed an old trail into the Colinet River, which flows from Ripple Pond.

In a short ceremony Ruth French shared a memory of Glen Davis's generosity and fun-loving spirit. Jennifer Morgan read an email from Chantal Weir, who Glen dubbed "Newfie Chick." Chantal also spoke of how quiet and unassuming he was. At environmental conferences that he sponsored, Glen would sit in the back of the room, paying close attention to presentations.

Thanks to Guide Leader and PAA staff member Denise Hennebury who helped organize this event and to the Guides and staff members who participated.
