PRESS RELEASE

St. John's, NL, July 31, 2007…………….. The second annual Wild Rose Rally and Ride will take place August 4th and 5th at the St. John's Racing and Entertainment Centre in the Goulds. The event is being organized by Selwyn Rose of Eastrider Inc. and the proceeds will go to Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland & Labrador (PAA).

On Saturday, there will be displays, motorcycle games, entertainment, activities for children; lots to see and do. On Sunday, the motorcycles will head out mid morning from the centre to Witless Bay Line/Holyrood to Paradise. The bikers will collect sponsors for the ride previous to the event.

"This is the second year for the rally and ride and the third year for the ride," says organizer Selwyn Rose. "I have a background in conservation, so wildlife and wild places are important to me. Bikers love the outdoors and open spaces; this is something we can do to help conserve what we have in this province."

"We were a little surprised initially that this group was interested in helping us, but given Selwyn's background and love for this province, it is not so surprising at all," says Laura Jackson, PAA's Executive Director. "We are delighted to have the support, and can only encourage other groups to step up and see what they can do to keep this beautiful province as unique as it is."

Protected Areas Association is a non-governmental, not for profit, registered charity, dedicated to conserving the biodiversity of Newfoundland and Labrador. See more at www.paanl.org

The rally takes place from 11:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday, August 4th and the ride gets under way at 10:00am on Sunday, August 5th. Admission is $2 at the gate and donations will also be accepted. Come out and support this worthwhile cause!!
