PRESS RELEASE October 14th, 2009……Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PAA) celebrates 20 years of saving spaces for species. The 20th Annual Benefit & Silent Auction will be held on Thursday, October 22nd, 7:00pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Pleasantville. The evening will include a silent auction with a dinner theatre/cabaret style atmosphere. Organizers are thrilled at the lineup for this year! "It's just amazing the talent volunteering to join us for the evening, none of whom need any introduction", says Executive Director Laura Jackson. "Environmental issues are becoming more and more a high priority for people and our event gives us the opportunity to keep people informed and make new friends in the environmental community and beyond. We can't thank all these great people enough for supporting us." Beni Malone will emcee this special celebration; the lineup includes cellist Francesca Swann with pianist Averill Baker, the voice of Julia Halfyard with pianist Brian Way, the Youth, Junior and Senior Performance Groups of the Dance Academy, the music of Dan Ficken on guitar and guest speaker Mark Wilson. PAA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to the establishment of a network of protected natural areas in our province. As this is the only annual fundraiser held, PAA hopes to get many supporters out for the event. It is also an opportunity for new people to come out and see what PAA is all about. More information can be found at www.paanl.org Tickets are $40 for General Admission and $30 for Students/Seniors and can be purchased through the PAA office at The Gathering Place, 172 Military Road. - 30 -
