Areas of interest Environmental education: Art Competition 2005

The Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is pleased to announce the winners of its province-wide 2005 environmental art competition "What Wild Place is Special to You?" Launced during Wildlife Week, April 10 - 16, 2005 and extending until May 20, 2005, this year's competition was extremely successful with 506 entries from 21 different schools. Our best year yet! This years winners are as follows:
Primary level winner Abigail Randell (Grade K), MacDonald Drive Elementary, St. John's

PRIZES
Prizes were awarded in three categories: Elementary (grades K-6), Intermediate (grades 7-9), and High (Levels I-III).
First place winners receive mounting of own artwork and gift pack
Second place winners receive a gift pack
Third place winners receive a gift pack
JUDGING
Winners were selected based on creativity, treatment of the theme, as well as artistic ability. Judging was conducted by the PAA and winners were announced on June 1, 2005.
All participants receive a token gift of appreciation from the PAA in recognition of their efforts.
