Areas of interest Environmental education: Art Competition 2006
The Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is pleased to announce the winners of its province-wide 2006 environmental art competition "Explore Why Watersheds are Important to you!" launched to celebrate National Wildlife Week, April 9 - 15, 2006 and extending until May 5, 2006.
This year's competition was extremely successful with 260 entries from all regions across our Province. Schools participated from the communities of: St. Anthony, C.B.S.,
Gaultois, Flowers Cove, Clarenville, St. John's, Postville, Fogo, Stephenville, Whitbourne, Pasadena, Bonavista and Random Island.
This years winners are as follows:
Primary level winner Rachel Hayward (Grade 3), Upper Gullies Elementary, Upper Gullies, C.B.S

PRIZES
Prizes were awarded in three categories: Elementary (grades K-6), Intermediate (grades 7-9), and High (Levels I-III).
First place winners receive mounting of own artwork and gift pack
Second place winners receive a gift pack
Third place winners receive a gift pack
JUDGING
Winners were selected based on creativity, treatment of the theme, as well as artistic ability. Judging was conducted by the PAA and winners were announced on May 18, 2006.
All participants receive a token gift of appreciation from the PAA in recognition of their efforts.
