PAA presents Labrador's first ecotourism conference

On September 15 - 17, 2006 the Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PAA) hosted Labrador's first wilderness and ecotourism conference. Held in Labrador City-Wabush, this conference made the connection between parks and reserves and a vibrant tourism economy. Individuals from Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as a keynote speaker from British Columbia, gathered in Labrador West to discuss wilderness and ecotourism potential in Labrador....

Performs Play on Preserving Endangered Spaces


St. John’s, NL – The Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador has partnered with the Protected Areas Association to entertain and educate children about endangered spaces in our province. Together they have hired a Green Team to produce, direct, and perform an environmentally themed play entitled, “Something Unique in Every Place”....

Protected Areas Association Announces Winners for the Environmental Art Competition
The Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PAA) is pleased to announce the winners of its province-wide 2006 environmental art competition "Exploring Why Watersheds Are Important to You!" launched as a continuation of Wildlife Week, April 9 - 15, 2006 of this year. This year's competition was extremely successful with 280 entries from 15 different schools. This years winners are as follows:

Buchans, April 19 – “A large turnout” is what organizer Chad Griffiths expects from the residents of Buchans and surrounding areas, for a town hall meeting taking place in the Red Ochre Inn, in Buchans planned for 7:00pm on Thursday, 21st of April.

Protected Areas Association Launches Environmental Art Competition
The Protected Areas Association of Newfoundland and Labrador would like to invite students from grades K - 12 to participate in a province-wide environmental art competition with the theme "Exploring why watersheds are important to you!". This competition is being launched as a continuation of Wildlife Week, April 9 - 15, 2006 and will extend until May 5, 2006.
